Account Types Insured by FDIC

The FDIC insures deposits held in the following types of accounts up to the insured limit:

  • NOW
  • Savings
  • Money market deposit accounts
  • Certificates of Deposits (CDs)

Account Types Not Insured BY FDIC

Even if you purchase these products from an insured bank, the FDIC does not insure the money you invest in:

  • Stocks
  • Mutual funds
  • Life insurance policies
  • Annuities
  • Municipal securities
