Real-Time Fraud Monitoring
Your Bank Midwest MasterCard debit card is a lifeline to your money.
That’s why debit cardholders are automatically enrolled to receive real-time fraud alerts sent by email, text or phone!
Here’s How It Works
We monitor current fraud trends and typical card activity and when various factors indicate a transaction may be fraudulent, we’ll notify you to verify whether a questionable transaction is authorized or not.
In certain situations, we may block your debit card until we receive confirmation from you that the requested transaction was authorized.
- When we detect potential fraud, you’ll receive an automatic email notification from our Fraud Center, with the option to reply with “fraud” or “no fraud.”
- One minute after the email, we’ll send you a free text alert, which also has the “fraud” or “no fraud” option.
- If there is no response received within 5 minutes or so, you’ll then receive automated phone calls to the numbers we have on record (mobile, home or business) to confirm or deny fraud.
If you confirm fraud for any type of alert, your debit card will be blocked and will be contacted by a Fraud Center analyst.
|Fraud Center and Bank Midwest staff will NEVER
ask for your PIN or account number.

When will I be notified?
Contacting you quickly is vital to preventing debit card fraud. This real-time alert service will trigger communications to you as soon as possible.
First a text message will be sent to you followed by an automated phone call, if we don’t get a reply to the email. Starting July, we’ll first send you an email followed by text and phone notifications.
How do I register for these alerts?
No registration is necessary for this complimentary service. As a debit cardholder, you are automatically enrolled to receive alerts if suspicious debit card transactions occur.
What makes a transaction appear as suspicious and generate a Debit Card Fraud Alert?
Our Fraud Center monitors current fraud trends and typical card activity. When various factors including transaction amount, location, merchant type, or multiple transactions indicate a transaction may be fraudulent, we’ll notify you to verify whether a questionable transaction is authorized or not.
What if the transaction is fraudulent? Can I still use my debit card?
No. The debit card will be blocked and not available for further use. A fraud specialist will contact you right away to discuss next steps.
How do I verify or update the contact information that Bank Midwest has for me?
Please call our Customer Support team at 888.902.5662 or your local branch.
What if I don’t have a text messaging service on my phone?
The text message service is only required to receive text alerts. Email and automated phone calls will be generated to notify you of fraud alerts depending upon what contact information we have available for you.
How much does it cost to use the Debit Card Fraud Alerts service?
Nothing! We do not charge our customers for this protection service. Even the text messages are sent free of charge to mobile users.
Can I opt out of debit card fraud alerts?
While you do not have the option to remove yourself from email or phone alerts (it’s for your own good!), you can opt out of text alerts.
Traveling out of the area?
Call 888.902.5662 or submit a Travel Notification Form. We can inform you of any blocks in place at the destination(s) you’ll be visiting and avoid calling you if we know you’re traveling to a new part of the world!
