Making a Difference: Bank Midwest Invests $100,000 in Local Communities

August 2025 – Bank Midwest is proud to award $100,000 from its Community Fund to eight local organizations dedicated to making their communities better. These grants support projects such as improvements to youth sports facilities, the creation of inclusive playgrounds, and community revitalization efforts—demonstrating our commitment to meaningful initiatives that make a lasting difference in the places we serve.

The Community Fund reflects Bank Midwest’s commitment to supporting local initiatives in the arts, environment, recreation, youth programs, and overall community betterment. By investing in capital projects, the fund drives meaningful and lasting improvements supported by additional organizations working toward similar goals.

This year’s 2025 grant recipients include:

  • Sioux Empire Baseball (SEBA) — $10,000
    Providing free baseball equipment to underprivileged children, giving every child the opportunity to play.
  • Ringsted Community Action Club — $5,000
    Enhancing community spirit with festive Christmas decorations.
  • Wall Lake American Legion — $5,000
    Establishing a timeless memorial wall to honor veterans and community members.
  • Westbrook Area Volunteers — $20,000
    Rejuvenating the community pool, a vital recreational facility.
  • Spirit Lake Inclusive Playground — $20,000
    Building an accessible playground for children of all abilities.
  • Windom Area Youth Hockey Association — $10,000
    Upgrading the City Arena with a new sound system and scoreboard to improve the game-day experience.
  • New Ulm Basketball Association — $20,000
    Constructing a new practice facility for local athlete training.
  • Sheldon Jackson Outreach Center — $10,000
    Rehabilitating spaces for Jackson’s community and family events.

“These gifts are so much more than financial support—they are an investment in our community’s future and represent our heartfelt belief in the people and places we call home,” said Mary Kay Bates, President and CEO. “It’s an honor to support organizations working to create stronger, more inclusive communities.”

Through these contributions, the Bank Midwest Community Fund continues to invest in projects that strengthen the fabric of the communities we serve and look forward to continuing this tradition of giving.
