Luke Donnenwerth appointed Chief Banking Officer

In his new role, Luke will lead Bank Midwest’s strategic growth strategies across all business lines while continuing his role as Market President in Spirit Lake and surrounding communities.

Having joined Bank Midwest in 2010 as a commercial loan officer, Luke has been serving as Market President for Spirit Lake, Okoboji, and Wall Lake, IA since 2022. A native of Spirit Lake, he graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and began his banking career in 2005. Luke’s outstanding abilities were recognized by BankBeat.biz, which named him a Rising Star in Banking in 2023. That same year, he actively participated in the Iowa Bankers Association Leaders in Advocacy Program, representing the banking industry at the state and national levels. Most recently, Luke was recognized as Dakota Finance SBA Lender of the Year and was honored with the designation of Patriotic Employer by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Apart from his professional accomplishments, Luke is actively involved in various organizations, including the YMCA of the Okobojis, where he serves as CVO Elect; the Spirit Lake Youth Athletics, where he holds the position of Treasurer; and the Good Neighbor Fund, where he serves as Board Chair. Luke is also involved in the Spirit Lake Noon Kiwanis, among other organizations. Alongside his wife, Megan, Luke is a proud parent of three children.
