Travel cards make payroll easy for your seasonal employees
Iowa Great Lakes employers can partner with our team to set up seasonal employee Travel Cards for temporary summer workers—benefiting both your business and your employees.
Travel Card Features
- Free direct deposit. Multiple employers can upload funds to the same card.
- Reloadable debit card. Students can use internationally in authorized countries.
- Reduced cash/check load fees of $3 per visit, after activation.
- No monthly fee for the first 3 months and fee is waived any month with a deposit after, otherwise $4.95 per month
Employee cardholders can load additional funds to their Travel Cards with payroll checks or cash at any Bank Midwest location or ITM video teller (no coins).
Important Notes about Travel Cards
- Daily cash withdrawal limits: $500 per transaction. 3 withdrawals allowed per day. Maximum $1,000 total per day.
- Maximum load amount: $10,000 on a card. However, multiple cards may be issued to individuals.
- End of season card closing: Withdraw all funds prior to leaving U.S.
- ATM Withdrawals: Employees should begin withdrawing funds about 2 weeks or so prior to leaving the U.S. keeping in mind daily limits for withdrawals.
- Bank Midwest branch withdrawals: The employee’s Social Security Number must have been submitted and stored in our records.
NOTE: The Okoboji location is no longer a full-service branch; however, additional check or cash deposits (no coin) can be handled by the drive-up ITM video teller. Fee-free withdrawals can be made from any Bank Midwest ATM or any ATM in the MoneyPass® network.

Travel Card Application
Employee Information Required:
- Name
- Job title
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Employee local address (residence, not employer) (Use as billing address for online purchases made with travel card)
- Country of citizenship
- Local phone number
U.S. or International IDs–2 are required
- Social Security Number (provide once obtained)
- DL or State ID (number, state issued, and expiration date)
- Passport (number, issue and expiration)
- Visa (number, issue date and expiration date)
Copies of Passport and Visa are needed in order for students to cash checks.
NOTE: A Social Security Number and ID will be required prior to the end-of-season in order to cash out remaining card balance in Spirit Lake.
