Frequently Asked Questions
Is my information secure?
Yes. Bank Midwest uses secure websites (HTTPS), encrypted data transmission, multi-factor authentication, session time-outs, account lockout features, and alerts for changes to your account to help protect your personal and account information online. We will never ask for your password or username by phone or email.
I believe I’ve been a victim of a scam. Who should I contact?
If you suspect fraud, contact Bank Midwest immediately at 888-902-5662 to report suspicious activity or contact us using secure messaging in Online Banking. You can also visit the Report Fraud & Identity Theft section of the Help Center.
Are deposit accounts FDIC insured? What if I have more than that to deposit?
Yes. Deposits in checking, savings, money market, and CDs are insured by the FDIC up to $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category. Bank Midwest participates in the FDIC’s Insured Cash Sweep® (ICS) program to help insure deposits above that limit across a network of banks.
Does opening an account affect my credit score?
Opening a Bank Midwest deposit account generally does not affect your credit score, because most deposit accounts don’t involve a credit check. (If a credit check is required for an overdraft line, ask your banker about potential impacts to your credit score.)
How quickly can I access my deposits?
Funds availability follows standard policies. Mobile and in-branch deposits may take time to process before being available (often next business day but can vary).
Is there a limit on how much money I can withdraw?
ATM withdrawals are typically limited by your card’s daily limit. For cash in-branch, limits depend on the location and advance notice.
Is there a minimum balance?
Some accounts require minimum daily or opening balances to avoid fees or earn interest. Check the deposit rates for your account to learn more.
Does the bank offer direct deposit, and how quickly are funds available?
Yes. Direct deposit can be set up using employer forms with Bank Midwest routing and account numbers. Funds availability depends on your employer’s timing and the bank’s processing.
Are there mobile deposit limits?
Mobile deposits will show in your available balance once processed. We have multiple processing times during the day with the last one at 5 p.m. CT. Deposits made after this time will be available the next business day. There are no dollar limits on mobile deposits, but we do review these types of deposits and may impose a hold on funds if we cannot verify funds availability with the paying bank. Please review our Funds Availability Disclosure provided with account documents for more information.
What information do I need to open a bank account for my business?
To open a business bank account with Bank Midwest, you’ll need a valid photo ID for each owner, basic business details, and documentation that shows your business is legally established, along with an EIN or Social Security number. You’ll also need an initial deposit, and a local banker can walk you through the rest either online or in-branch.
