Bank Midwest News & Resources
What Makes Armstrong Home
Built in 1892, Armstrong’s rich history begins all the way back to the arrival of the railroad. Originally known as Armstrong Grove, the region got its name from Thomas Armstrong, who was one of the earliest explorers of the area. The name stuck shortly after the railroad began its development, and the work attracted new settlers to the area.
Today, Armstrong is one example of the many small farm towns dotted around the Midwest. The town is home to about 900 residents, offering a quiet, family-oriented lifestyle where everyone knows their neighbor.
Industries That Move Armstrong Forward
The local economy is primarily fueled by manufacturing and agriculture. One such example in manufacturing is Art’s Way Manufacturing, a producer of farming machinery and equipment based in Armstrong. However, farms and agriculture support still lead the way for the community.
