Bank Midwest Donation to Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation

Bank Midwest Community Fund Awards a $10,000 Grant to the Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation’s 3D Mammography Project

Bank Midwest is proud to support the Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation by donating funds to help bring vital state-of-the-art screening equipment to residents of the Iowa Great Lakes. The donation to the Lakes Regional Healthcare 3D Mammography Project will help replace the existing and outdated 2D digital mammography unit at Lakes Regional Healthcare.

The project’s goal is to purchase, install, train staff and begin providing patient access to 3D mammographies locally by the spring of 2018. Currently, Lakes area patients are referred to Sioux Falls, SD for 3D mammography testing, which involves more than a 200-mile round trip.

“It’s an honor donating to a project that will have a lifesaving impact on our community,” states Bank Midwest Community Bank President, Keith Deitering. “By ensuring patients have access to the latest technology locally, we can serve them better and help minimize the need to travel, taking time away from families and jobs.”

The total projected cost is $498,000, and fundraising efforts began in December 2016.

The Bank Midwest Community Fund is designed to help support larger community projects that are meeting a unique need in the markets it serves. The fund accepts proposals from local, community-based 501(c)3 organizations and is focused on the arts, environment, recreation, youth, and general long-term community betterment initiatives.

To be considered, applicants must demonstrate how their project will impact Bank Midwest customers, shareholders and employees, as well as how much market area the organization or event will reach and the potential for employee involvement.
