FDIC Insurance
Keeping your deposits safe. Bank Midwest is a member of the FDIC, an independent agency of the U.S. Government -- the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) -- which insures your deposits up to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013.
On January 1, 2014, the standard insurance amount will return to $100,000 per depositor for all account categories except IRAs and other certain retirement accounts, which will remain at $250,000 per depositor.
Account Types Insured
The FDIC insures deposits held in the following types of accounts up to the insured limit:
- Checking
- NOW
- Savings
- Money market deposit accounts
- Certificates of Deposits (CDs)
Account Types Not Insured
Even if you purchase these products from an insured bank, the FDIC does not insure the money you invest in:
- Stocks
- Mutual funds
- Life insurance policies
- Annuities
- Municipal securities
